Nelson and the surrounding region is a fantastic place to visit all year round. During the summer months, the beautiful beaches are a must. Cable Bay, Tahunanui, Rabbit Island, the Boulder Bank and Kaiteriteri to name a few. There are also some great swimming pools and river swimming holes to cool down in. Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi National Parks, Golden Bay and the Marlborough Sounds are all just a stunning drive away.
If walking or cycling is your passion, there are many great tracks throughout the region, including The Abel Tasman National Park, the Heaphy Track, the Dun Mountain Trail and the Great Taste Coastal Trail.
Galleries, pottery studios, museums, and art and craft are also plentiful. The vibrant Saturday market is unmissable for local produce, jewellery, a variety of food and everything else you could want. The Suter Art Gallery, Founders Park and Nelson Classic Car Museum are also a must. Shops, bars, boutique breweries, vineyards, cafés, restaurants, gardens, sculptures, festivals, sports, shows, skiing, boating, fishing... the list goes on!
